Dr Devon Mothersille presents at the DFI 2019 Middle East Conference in Dubai – April 2019

On the 24th and 25th April 2019 the Middle East Division of the Deep Foundation Institute held a conference that covered a variety of case histories and topics under the theme Geotechnical Engineering for Delivering Sustainable, Cost Effective Projects. The conference was hosted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) at their headquarters in Dubai.

Forming part of a team with Bauer UAE’s Regional Geotechnical Design Manager, Mr Bora Okumusoglu, Dr Devon Mothersille delivered a presentation entitled ‘Implementation of High Capacity and Removable Ground Anchors for Support of Deep Excavation in the United Arab Emirates’. Mr Okumusolglu delivered a separate presentation entitled ‘Unsymmetrical Twin Shaft Retention System for Stormwater Terminal Pumping Station in Dubai’.

The conference also benefitted tremendously from a number of keynote lectures including one from Dr Mothersille’s research colleague from the University of Bradford (UK), Dr Abdussamie Mohammed Haimoni (Senior Manager at the RTA) who delivered the opening address.

This conference was enjoyable and highly informative and left the delegates in no doubt that the Middle East is embracing innovation, sustainability and a high standard of technical expertise in solving complex geotechnical problems.

Enjoy photographs taken from the conference.
